Stump grinding & removal

Gone below ground — not a hazard, not an eyesore, not a re-growth.

Stump grinding removes the stump and principal roots 150–300mm below ground level, letting you re-lawn, replant, pave or fence cleanly.

Why grind a stump?

Three good reasons, sometimes all at once.

Aesthetics: A rotting stump is ugly and it tends to get uglier. Grinding gives you a clean slate.

Safety: Stumps are trip hazards — especially where they're hidden by grass or mulch — and they foul lawnmowers.

Disease prevention: Honey fungus (Armillaria) and other root-rots move from dead stumps into living trees and shrubs nearby. Removing the stump slows that transfer.

How it works

  1. 1
We assess access. Narrow gates, tight corners and boggy ground all change the kit needed.
  2. 2
We cut stumps flush, expose major roots, check for utilities and stones that will blunt the cutter.
  3. 3
Grind down 150–300mm below grade — deeper for replanting or paving.
  4. 4
Clear, backfill, finish. Arisings chipped, hole filled with topsoil if requested, area left ready for its next use.
